Pulse oximetry technology

The determination of oxygen saturation in the blood is a standard medical parameter and is indispensable in many applications.  Hereby, both spot-check devices as well as monitors for continuous monitoring are used. Typically, the devices are used in rescue services, in ICUs, with anesthesia or in sleep diagnostics.  

Here, the measurement of SpO2 and pulse is based on pulse oximetry, a fast and, most importantly, non-invasive measuring method. Classically, this is measured transmissively via a finger sensor, but reflective sensors, which are attached to the forehead, for example, can also be used.
